Adding Offline Assignments to your Gradebook
Sometimes, in-class assessments make more sense than accepting work online (e.g. you can monitor student access to textbooks, smartphones, or notes). But remember that students might...
- lose papers, leaving them without a copy of the grade and feedback
- be absent and miss their grade/feedback entirely
- fail to see how this single grade ties in to the overall course grade
The solution? Use Canvas to report grades even if you aren't accepting anything online. If you create an assignment shell creates in Canvas, it creates a column in your gradebook. Entering grades will notify students of grades & feedback, and helps them monitor their course average.
