Setting Up Notifications
By default, Canvas notifies your Lasell email address when course-related events happen. For example, if students send you a Canvas message, your Lasell email will be automatically notified. To set these up...
- Select Account in Canvas global navigation.
- Select Notifications in the sidebar that pops up.
- On the notifications page, you will see a list of Canvas activities. Check the appropriate mark for when you want to be notified about that activity:
-
- Check Mark: Immediate notification to your Lasell email
- Clock: Daily Summary at the end of the day.
- Calendar: Weekly summary at the end of the week, usually on Saturday between 7:00 am - 9:00 am (depending on time zone).
- X Mark: Canvas will not notify you when this activity happens
For example:
- If you use a lot of online discussions, you might ask for "Daily Summary." By default, Canvas notifies you of every discussion post. That's a lot. A single email at the end of the day might work better.
- If you use weekly Announcements, you might ask for "Notify Immediately." By default, Canvas doesn't notify you about announcements you send. You might want a copy of those the moment they go out to remind you of what students have received and when.
