A message from President Michael Alexander:
Why Inspired Humanity?
With AI advancements, namely GPT-4 and other programs, the Future of Life Institute recently released an open letter Links to an external site., calling on AI labs to pause the experiments for 6 months so that the many questions regarding ethics and humanity can be explored. These neural network and natural language processing programs are inspired by human intelligence, hence the colloquial reference to "Artificial Intelligence or AI." That is why Symposium takes as its theme: Inspired Humanity.
For more on the ways in which these programs will alter the shape of our world, enjoy the following:

Restorative Circles for Community Building
In this hands-on experience participants will become part of a community-building circle jointly led by students in the Restorative Justice Honors Component. In this session we will share perspectives, get to know each other better, deeply listen, practice empathy, and find our common humanity. There are 8 openings and all who attend will be participating in the circle. Students, staff, Villagers, and faculty invited. If you are interested in participating please email CBlum@lasell.edu
⚖️ Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
Join LS101 Class and the Justice Studies Department for their Mock Trial.
The Mock Trial Court Room is in Stoller Room, 2nd floor of the Brennan Library.
The trial will begin promptly at 9:30am, and will wrap up by 12:00pm. Light refreshments will be offered.
The aspiring “advocates” are as ready and willing to perform as ever.
For those of you who have served before…this will be another new exciting and interesting case.

Three Simple Questions about Community
The Oxford American Dictionary defines community as: "1. a body of people living in one place... 2. a group with common interests... 3. fellowship, being alike in some way." The Symposium Team thinks the community defines itself.
We want to hear from you! Please answer the "Three Simple Questions Links to an external site." about community:
- What does "community" mean to you?
- How do you support your communities?
- How do your communities support you and/or help you grow?
All contributions are anonymous. Answer 1 or 3 questions.
Three Simple Questions: 2021
Last fall the entire Lasell community has answered three simple questions. "Thank you" to everyone who responded; it was an overwhelming success!
